Motorcycle Escape heads to Nepal

In April this year, Motorcycle Escape embarked on an unforgettable journey through the majestic landscapes of Nepal. A group of enthusiastic motorcyclists from Bangalore joined us for a two-week adventure that blended thrill, nature, culture, and camaraderie. As the founder and organiser of Motorcycle Escape, my role wasn’t just about logistics but ensuring every moment was an experience to remember. Here’s the tale of our Nepal ride…

Day 1: Arrival in Delhi – The Starting Point

Our riders arrived in Delhi, where our fleet of motorcycles stood ready. The energy was palpable—anticipation, excitement, and the promise of adventure filled the air. After a quick briefing and a check on the bikes, we set off the next day on what would be the start of an exhilarating ride.

Day 2: Delhi to Rudrapur – 249 KM

The journey began with a 249-kilometer ride from Delhi to Rudrapur. The group quickly got into the rhythm, cruising through the open roads. With every kilometer, the urban sprawl gave way to the countryside’s lush green fields. I kept a close eye on the group, ensuring each rider felt comfortable and confident as they tackled the changing terrain. Rudrapur welcomed us with a serene evening, setting the tone for the days to come.

Day 3: Rudrapur to Bardia National Park – 216 KM

Crossing into Nepal, we reached our first major stop—Bardia National Park. The route took us through winding roads with scenic vistas of rivers and valleys. It was a perfect introduction to Nepal’s natural beauty, with the Bardia National Park giving us our first taste of the country’s wilderness. I arranged for a relaxing evening, allowing the riders to absorb the tranquility after a long day on the road.

Day 4: Bardia National Park to Tansen – 330 KM

This day brought one of the longest rides of the tour—330 kilometers to Tansen. The challenge wasn’t just the distance but the increasingly curvy and mountainous roads. But our Bangalore clients handled it like seasoned pros. In my role as the guide, I ensured frequent stops for refreshments and photo ops, as the scenery was simply too stunning to pass by. The riders were beginning to feel the pulse of Nepal, and the camaraderie was strong as they encouraged each other through the tough patches.

Day 5: Tansen to Pokhara – 123 KM

The ride from Tansen to Pokhara was a relatively short one at 123 kilometers, but it was packed with breathtaking views of the Annapurna range. As we descended towards the lakeside city of Pokhara, I could sense the group’s excitement growing. Pokhara, with its laid-back vibe, vibrant streets, and lakeside beauty, was the perfect spot for our first rest day.

Day 6: Exploring Pokhara

We spent Day 6 exploring Pokhara. For the riders, it was a well-deserved break. Some took boat rides on the serene Phewa Lake, while others opted for paragliding over the valleys. My team and I made sure that everyone was comfortable and had their fill of adventure. Pokhara also gave us time to check up on the bikes and perform any minor tweaks to ensure they were ready for the next leg of the journey.

Day 7: Pokhara to Chitwan – 160 KM

The 160-kilometer ride to Chitwan was a beautiful one, taking us through lush green valleys and charming villages. As we entered Chitwan, the flat plains and dense jungles welcomed us. It was time to experience Nepal’s wildlife. After checking in, we arranged for an evening jungle safari, where the riders got a chance to spot rhinos, deer, and even the elusive Bengal tiger.

Day 8: Explore Chitwan National Park

Another rest day, but this time with an adventurous twist. The group enjoyed a full day of jungle activities, from elephant rides to canoeing down the Rapti River. I made sure everyone had what they needed and captured moments of riders interacting with nature—priceless memories for them to take home.

Day 9: Chitwan to Bhaktapur – 194 KM

Leaving the lowlands of Chitwan, we rode into the heart of Nepal’s cultural treasures—Bhaktapur. The 194-kilometer journey was a mix of open roads and urban congestion as we neared Kathmandu Valley. Bhaktapur, with its ancient temples, cobbled streets, and rich history, made for a perfect cultural immersion. I organized a guided tour, letting our riders soak in the spiritual energy of this medieval town.

Day 10: Explore Bhaktapur

Day 10 was dedicated to exploring Bhaktapur. Riders wandered through its ancient squares, marveling at the architecture and the local way of life. Some indulged in local crafts and souvenirs, while others simply absorbed the atmosphere. The day was a cultural feast that contrasted beautifully with the ruggedness of our rides.

Day 11: Bhaktapur to Bandipur – 160 KM

The ride to Bandipur was scenic and filled with mountain views. This 160-kilometer stretch offered winding roads that challenged the riders’ skills while rewarding them with stunning views. Bandipur, a hilltop town, provided the perfect mix of quiet charm and panoramic landscapes. As the group wound down for the evening, I couldn’t help but reflect on how far we had come, both in terms of distance and experience.

Day 12: Bandipur to Bhutwal – 201 KM

We rode through more rolling hills and countryside as we made our way to Bhutwal. The town was a contrast from the quieter places we had stayed, but the vibrant energy of the local markets provided a glimpse into the bustling side of Nepal. I made sure the group got to taste some authentic Nepali food before we headed to our accommodation.

Day 13: Bhutwal to Nepalgunj – 250 KM

Our route took us back to the plains as we covered 250 kilometers to reach Nepalgunj. This town, close to the Indian border, had an entirely different atmosphere. It was a reminder of how diverse Nepal truly is—mountains, jungles, cities, and now the plains. The ride was smooth, and I made sure the riders were comfortable after this long day.

Day 14: Nepalgunj to Bareilly – 268 KM

Crossing back into India, the riders tackled the 268 kilometers to Bareilly. As the familiar landscape of India came into view, there was a bittersweet feeling among the group. We were nearing the end of our journey, but the experiences we shared would last a lifetime.

Day 15: Bareilly to Delhi – 286 KM

The final ride to Delhi, 286 kilometers of reminiscing and camaraderie. As we rode back into the capital, the group exchanged stories from the tour, each rider having their own favorite moment. For me, seeing the satisfaction on their faces was the ultimate reward. After reaching Delhi, we celebrated with a farewell dinner, where we relived the highs of the trip.

Day 16: Departure – Until the Next Ride

With hearts full of adventure and minds buzzing with memories, the riders all departed for Bangalore. For Motorcycle Escape, this was not just another ride—it was a testament to the power of travel, motorcycles, and the spirit of adventure. We can’t thank this group enough for
